Amer Fort, also known as Amber Fort, is a fort situated in Amer, Rajasthan. Amer is a town situated just 11 kilometers from Jaipur. Is also famous for its Rajput architecture.

 History:

Constructed in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I, Amer Fort. The fort combines Hindu and Mughal architectural styles.

Architecutal Significance:

Amber Fort is built of red sandstone and marble. The fort is divided into four main sections, each with its own courtyard.

1 Diwan-e-Aam (Hall of Public Audience): This hall was used by the Maharajas to address the public and hear their injustices.

2 Diwan-e-Khas (Hall of Private Audience): a hall decorated with intricate carvings and precious stones where the king held private meetings.

3 Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace): An amazing hall covered with mirrors that reflect light and create a charming effect.

4 Sukh Niwas (Hall of Pleasure): This area was designed to keep the temperature cool and pleasant, with channels of water running through the rooms.

Light and Sound Show: 

Amer Fort also hosts an impressive light and sound show.

Visiting Information:


Amer Fort is open to visitors from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.The entry fee differ for Indian and international tourists.Additional charges apply for the light and sound show and the elephant ride.The best time to visit Amer Fort is during the cooler months from October to March.
